2 things you can STOP doing that will save the time you spend travelling.

If you were to sit down and think about how much of your time is spent travelling, do you think you'd be surprised? Your job may not require you to travel, but what about your commute?

Other than time spent on email and back-to-back meetings, travel is the third most time-consuming activity in the diaries of those who go through their own Diary Detox® and it is almost always categorised as a waste of time. So, my advice, STOP travelling so much and STOP wasting your time when you do need to travel.

STOP travelling so much and STOP wasting your time when you do need to travel.

The reason you may travel so much is because you either need to, or you don't realise that you don't need to...until now.

Let's start with the latter. Well, now you do realise. Congratulations, that's easy to deal with. STOP travelling so much. Don't get me wrong, it could be that you need to travel to meet clients for the first meeting, but after that you can video conference or talk on the phone. There are others ways to meet people without you doing all the travel.

What about if you need to travel that much, perhaps you're in a sales role? Fine, travel, but STOP wasting that time. But how?

`You could take the train, tube or other public transport rather than drive. This will give you the ability to use your time more wisely. Read, write, take a phone call etc.

If convenience demands that you have to drive, you can still use the time to catch-up on the phone (be careful with this one) or take the time to listen to an audiobook, podcast, TED Talk etc.

In both cases, you can use the time to do more thinking. I don't mean reactive thinking. I mean valuable conscious thought about opportunities, challenges, and the future.

So there you have it, two things that you can STOP doing that will save you time. STOP travelling more than you need to, and STOP wasting the opportunity to do more with your time when you do have to.

More soon...enjoy!
